INTELMARK AT-P LI MARKING MACHINE

In a series of IntelMark AT-P LI machines used a special marking head is based on the spray+laser marking technology, which can mark on the surface of the pipe without damaging it.

This method of marking are specially designed for the applying of  machine readable codes on the inner or outer surface of pipes in accordance with the requirements of such certification institutions such as API, Det Norske Veritas (DNV-OS) and others. For this way of marking, we use a special, patented marking technology is based on the laser, which can mark on the surface of the pipe without damaging it.

The marking head typically contains a combined laser and paint marking system. Firstly the spray marking nozzles applying a background of paint (usually white color) to the pipe surface. For the background in this type of marking using the special type of paint that changes the pigmentation under the influence of the laser beam, thereby forming an image with no paint is burned, and no damage to the metal surface. The possibility to mark the pipe without damaging of pipe's surface is critically important especially for pipes for oil and gas industry, which has an internal and external protective coating.

The advantage of the method what we could create the marking with very high quality and the marking will be good readable by the use of any types of standard scanners. The inherently high contrast nature of black laser marking on the white background eliminates variations in surface appearance that would otherwise preclude barcode marking.  This leads to reliable barcode reading that can be performed using low cost commercially available barcode scanners.

Another benefit what only paint is necessary for the marking as the consumables so the cost of the marking is very low.

The addition of this laser marked identification further enables the use of downstream barcode reading systems to scan the barcode for identification of the pipe at key manufacturing nodes, and enables the ability to automatically update the database with manufacturing process results at these nodes on a pipe-by-pipe basis.

Laser marking is done "on the fly", i.e. robot moves continuously the marking module over the surface to be marked. This avoids the limitations of a fixed size of marking field (so-called "marking window"), which is common to all marking systems, and form an image of any desired size to us.
